Beet Lattes & Window Sills Aka My Favorite Morning Ritual
I have this insane obsession with window sills, I remember watching movies and thinking, I can’t wait until I have my own little space where I have a window sill and I can have a little herb garden, some plants, and spices. I grew up and the picture in my head turned into a window sill covered with small succulents, crystals, and books.
The reality is, that I can’t keep succulents alive, and as much as I wanna be a plant lady, I still haven’t been able to master this skill. The crystal collection continues to grow and my books don’t necessarily fit so I have them all in a big trunk in my room, and what really happens is sage ash covers the surface.
BEET HEALTH BENEFITS
I consider beets a superfood on their own, they contain important agents that work to protect the liver by increasing enzymatic antioxidants. Insane right.? They are also high in vitamin c and a bunch of other vitamins and minerals. Beets are a unique source of betaine which can be shown to help fight inflammation, great for that time of the month. Beets also help improve blood flow which is great during this time of the month.
Reishi is a great calming herb and it’s an excellent herb for calming and relaxing your nervous system during your time of the month. It’s is an overall great herb to use during times of general anxiety and stress. Chaga is an incredible anti-inflammatory herb, great at helping with any pain or uncomfortable aches you can feel during your menstrual phase. I like adding He Shou Wu for its iron and zinc properties which we lose a lot of as we bleed. The cinnamon in the mix not only adds a nice flavor to it but also helps with keeping your blood sugar balanced which is mega important to keeping your hormones balanced. Ashwagandha is great at balancing out your mood, support your energy levels, and help regulate your hormones.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS WARM BEET LATTE
1 1/2 cup of hot water
2 tablespoons of beet powder
3 tablespoons of hemp seeds
2 tablespoons of collagen peptides
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 a teaspoon of ground ginger,
1 tablespoon of honey + ghee
1 tablespoon of vanilla
1-2 teaspoons of CBD oil,
2 teaspoons of menstrual phase adaptogen mix
menstrual phase aka period adaptogen mix: mix together 1/4 cup of each reishi, chaga, he shou wu, ashwagandha and 3 tablespoons of Ceylon cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS FOR WARM BEET LATTE
In your blender add the hot water and follow in with the rest of the ingredients, blend on high for 3-5 minutes depending on your blender, until mega creamy. Pour into your mug and enjoy!
