Tea Time with Kati From Pearl Butters

Today on Tea Time I am bringing into FOP land the creator behind Pearl Butter, which you know I am OBSESSED with. When I first talked to Kati earlier this year, I told her I felt like we had known each other for years. She is beautiful inside and out and is on her way to conquering the wellness scene.  While Kati and I haven’t met personally yet we are shooting for a meet and greet soon!

How would you describe your philosophy about food and wellness?

Self love. You can eat all the kale in the world and run 10 miles a day, but if you don’t love yourself, what’s the point?

Tell us about your business journey and how you started Pearl Butter? What lead you to turn your passion into this career?

Growing up, I had pretty bad acne and tried every cream/wash/pill in the book. Finally, when I went off to college, I was fed up, and decided to take a birth control pill for my skin. Months later, I had a really bad reaction to the pill and had to take a leave of absence from school. That pill―routed out of my desire for clear skin―changed my life forever. As I was in and out of hospitals for a year, I became fascinated with the human body and holistic alternatives to pharmaceuticals/western medicine. That was the impetus for Pearl Butter.

What’s your favorite quote or mantra?

“A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.:

What does a typical day look like?

Oof, this is going to sound so bad, but I don’t have a typical day! I keep trying to create more routines in my life to help me feel more grounded, but with Pearl Butter just getting started, it’s pretty tough to anticipate what challenges are going to come.

Guilty food pleasure?

Tacos!!! Every week, my boyfriend and I celebrate Taco Tuesday.

We know at Pearl Butter everyone is super wellness oriented, what brought you into this new way of thinking?

I know firsthand what it feels like to be sick and terrified. It was hell. I don’t want anyone to have to go through the sh*t that I went through.

The one item that is always on your grocery list?

Bananas! I freeze them for ultra creamy smoothies and nice cream, and I swear they just disappear! Well, actually…I know where they go…in my belly…

What is your favorite way to unwind after a long day?

A lavender bubble bath! Or reality TV (lol). It’s all about balance.

Where do you see yourself in the next 1-2 years? Any big plans you wanna share with all of us?

By then, I hope I’ve helped create a space within the wellness community that’s inclusive and fun. Life’s too short not to have fun :P.

    1. VERY amazing. Try cutting back sugar, it was the best for my skin. It totally helped and also baking soda + coconut oil to cleanse every day. Wish you the best.

  2. Kati sounds so awesome! I love the concept of pearl butter and healthier options that have positive effects on your skin, etc. She makes such a great point about self love in the beginning, and how that plays into a factor of living a healthy life
