For me, there’s something about having a hot cup of hot chocolate to start the morning off or even end the day with. It’s a slightly sweet treat, keeps me on track and it tastes amazing. Since I ditched coffee + matcha earlier this fall, this feel amazing hot chocolate is my go-to morning drink to start of the day- I want to share with you guys a way you can get a boost of energy in a healthy way, sustainable way.
The comforting blend of cocoa, hemp seeds, cashew butter, maple syrup, vanilla, collagen peptides, and ghee provide the velvety texture and warming flavors that you’d expect from only the best hot chocolate. Since the recipe is dairy-free, rich in healthy fats, you won’t feel weighed down after drinking it. The healthy fats will help you feel fuller longer and help you with cognitive functioning. The cinnamon helps keep your blood sugar balanced and the maca adds a hormone balancing effect. The collagen is added for optimal gut health.

THE AMAZING PART
Chocolate is amazing for you- when it is unprocessed, has no added preservatives, coloring or weird shit. The active compound in cacao aka chocolate is theobromine which helps allow more blood flow and oxygen. Cacao contains neurotransmitters such as anandamide (in Sanskrit it means joy, bliss) it’s a natural form of antidepressant and a great way to boost your mood.
Cashew butter has a good amount of copper which is important in enzyme production and also helps produce energy in the cells, supports brain function and keeps our nervous system healthy.
Maca helps balance our hormones, boost stamina, helps with endurance, and mental clarity. Maca is also great at reducing depression and anxiety symptoms. A great addition to your fall and winter supplement routine.
Dopamine Bean powder is amazing at helping with brain function, elevate mood and soothe your nervous system. I buy mine from Sun Potions and add it to my morning lattes, I love adding it to my hot chocolate as well.
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1-2 tbsp maple syrup add more for extra sweetness
- 1 date
- 1 tbsp vanilla ghee or regular ghee
- 3 tbsp cacao powder
- 2 tbsp hemp seeds
- 3 tbsp cashew butter
- 2 tbsp collagen peptides
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon, maca, chaga, lacuna pruriens
- pinch of salt
- pinch of cayenne pepper
- coconut whipped cream optional to swirl in or top
- Add all the ingredients to blender, and blend on high for about two minutes, until creamy. Pour into a large mug and serve.
