Tea Time with Holistic Nutritionist Raina Cross

One of my favorite things about social media is that I get to connect with incredible people, all of them are in the same headspace when it comes to health and wellness as I am so it totally makes my day when I can invite them over virtually for tea time. I met Raina through Manotiba Harvest (yeah the hemp seed company).
Raina is a registered holistic nutritionist living in Canada and sees clients worldwide. I love that she offers 1:1 consultations and different programs depending on your health needs. She also has mentoring which is pretty cool and a bunch of different resources, you babes can read more about what Raina offers here.

Raina can you share with us a little of your morning, the first thing you do when you wake up?
Meditate, make a cup of tea, and do my exercise routine.
What about before going to bed, what is the last thing you do?
Imagine/visualize what I want to create in my life – my biggest goals and current deepest desires.
I love that, I am going to steal that from you and start applying that to my nighttime routine.
When it comes to breakfast, Raina are you more of a savory or sweet person? What is your ideal breakfast or are you more of brunch person?
Savory. Unless a smoothie is considered sweet 😉 My go-to breakfast to make me feel great is a blueberry protein smoothie loaded with superfoods, like maca, spirulina, and ashwagandha.
I love using spirulina and maca in my smoothies, I don’t consider smoothies sweet, they are my go-to for everything, especially right now during the summer months.
What are your thoughts when it comes to health and wellness?
Eating healthy is only one part of health. Yes, it is VERY important. But it is also important to create a healthy environment to live in, have healthy relationships, exercise, and get lots of fresh air, sunshine, and time in nature!
I could not agree more.
What made you want to get into the holistic nutrition field?
I have a huge passion for our Earth and caring for it. I knew I wanted to do something in regards to being kind to the environment, and becoming a nutritionist is where my path led to. Educating people on the importance of eating healthy food and know where it comes from improves your health and the health of our world.
What is the one thing you see a lot of your clients when it comes to health and their everyday eating habits?
People don’t realize how much sugar they were eating and how addicted they were to it. They also don’t realize how amazing they can feel (and how terrible they felt before changing their eating habits without realizing it!!).
YESS.! I totally agree. I stopped eating foods with processed sugar years ago and I have to admit my body and mind have never felt better.
That one ingredient you always have in your fridge?
Carrots. My favorite vegetable that I use all the time!
Favorite season and why? What are you eating all season long?
Summer for sure!! I LOVE all the amazing fresh produce! Carrots, celery, and apples are staples in my house all year long.
Dream vacation, where are you?
Bali. I’ve been dreaming of seeing the breathtaking beauty of Bali in person!
Okay for a little fun, let’s do a lightning round, so you can only have the one you pick for the rest of your life. Hahaha.
RAINA. DON’T OVERTHINK IT. QUICK
Dried fruit or Fresh? Fresh!
Nuts or beans? Nuts.
Breakfast or Dinner? Breakfast
Strawberries or Bananas? Strawberries, hands down!
Dark Chocolate or Chocolate chip cookies? Ooh, that’s a tough one. I’d probably go with chocolate chip cookies.
